Background

In 2023, Small Y Template was in its early stages of development, and the Madison County YMCA had been formally designated as a Small Y Template pilot. The project became one of the earliest practical implementations of concepts that best serve smaller Y's in a real-world YMCA website.

Two years later, YMCA of Madison County, in collaboration with Y-USA, selected ITCare Cloud Hosting to provide the robust infrastructure needed for their new digital presence.

Website development was led by the YMCA Website Services core team, with design and the initial content push handled by VMLY&R. ITCare took the lead on the final content push, polishing, and preparing the site for launch, while also providing the hosting environment and ongoing technical support.

Lessons Learned

Lessons learned from the YMCA Madison County website launch.

A project can have the best foundation, but without a partner willing to take the lead during organizational transitions, it risks remaining in "draft" indefinitely. Given the internal staffing shifts at the time, it is uncertain when—or if—this website would have seen the light of day without ITCare's proactive intervention. What could have taken another year of internal deliberation was completed and launched by ITCare in a matter of weeks.

The final 10% of a project — polishing navigation, fixing placeholders, and DNS configuration — often becomes the biggest hurdle for non-technical teams. Proactive intervention from a partner who truly cares prevents a project from stagnating.

By repurposing maintenance hours for content and launch support, ITCare demonstrated a commitment to the client's success. It's an example of how existing resources can be transformed into the final push needed for a major milestone.
